Info on Blerta's Come Dance Aroud the World

Blerta "Bruno Lawrence's Electric Revelation and Travelling Apparition" was a 70's (71-75) traveling musical and theatrical group. The group traveled around in a red grafitied bus.  Bruno Lawrence's arranged the group of musician's, actors and friends to get away from modern performing life. Most of the group lived together on a commune. The group were labeled as hippies and looked down upon for this by others in the music industry.

The red graffitied bus is a motive the group have used in album art and the Come Dance Around the World Music Video.

Blerta wrote the children's song to combat the fact that they were viewed in a negative way when rolling into towns in a red graffitied bus. The song was written for public relation shows called The Blerta Kids' Show which was a free show they put on in every town they visited.

"The theory was that it is difficult for anyone to maintain hostility towards people who are good to their kids and prepared to entertain them for nothing. This proved to be the case and we persisted with these popular free shows for some years."

The idea for the song came from the children's author Margret Mayhe's book of the same name.

A music video features children running/waling around in various forms of dress up  and a 70's animation of the red bus driving along the a road with wide open scenery was published later for the song. It featured footage from the Blerta documentary.

 (Monologue)
And so they danced until they came to a castle on a lonely hill
